Not all “Dragon Well Tea” can be defined as “West Lake Dragon Well Tea”

In accordance with the Provisions on the Protection of Geographical Indications Products, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China has approved that the current administrative area of Xihu District of Hangzhou (West Lake Scenic Spot) as "West Lake Plantation Area", covering an area of about 168 square kilometers.

Only the "Longjing Tea" produced in "West Lake Plantation Area" within the "protection scope of geographical indication products" can be called "Xihu Longjing Tea", accounting for about 10% of the total output of the three major plantation areas.

The administrative areas under Hangzhou such as Xiaoshan, Yuhang, Fuyang, Linan, Tonglu, Jiande and Chun'an are called “Qiantang Plantation Area”, accounting for 30% of the total output of the three major plantation areas.

In addition, the current administrative areas of Shaoxing, Yuecheng, Xinchang, Shengzhou, Zhuji and other counties (cities, districts) and some of the current administrative township areas such as Shangyu, Panan, Dongyang, Tiantai and other counties (cities) are called “Yuezhou Production Area”, accounting for 60% of the total output of the three major plantation areas.

The "Longjing Tea" produced in "Qiantang Plantation Area" can only be called "Qiantang Longjing Tea" while the "Longjing Tea" produced in “Yuezhou Production Area" can only be called "Yuezhou Longjing Tea".
